Building Community, Inspiring Joy

Vision & Mission

Neighborways’ mission is to help communities build networks of traffic-calmed streets that are inviting for people of all ages, and prioritize biking and walking. We believe streets should be beautiful places that incorporate local art and creativity, and serve as a meeting place where you can engage with your neighbors.

We partner with municipalities, local businesses, business associations, main street groups, developers, schools, local residents, and other organizations to implement quick-build, low-cost projects that tap into the energy and creativity in your local community.

History

Born from student projects led by Mark Chase in Somerville, Neighborways has grown from a grassroots effort to improve our local communities. After 6 years of hands-on experience, lessons learned, and visioning, we are an established plangineering firm with international experts, artists, researchers, and amazing local talent. With 2 miles of network and growing in Somerville, Neighborways is expanding throughout the Boston metro region and beyond, intentionally working with social justice and under served communities like Chelsea, Everett, and Revere. We’re excited to share our commitment and philosophy to work with communities of all shapes, sizes, and visions to create safe and beautiful places to enjoy.
